For the first time this season and third year overall, the Orlando Magic and Harris Corporation, an international communications and information technology company, have teamed up to honor military men, women and their families with Seats for Soldiers Night on Friday, January 9, 2009 at 7 p.m. when the Magic take on the Atlanta Hawks.
The Magic and Harris Corporation will donate tickets to men and women in the military from Patrick Air Force Base in Cocoa Beach, MacDill Air Force Base in Tampa, the Naval Air Force Station in Jacksonville and Orlando area military personnel for the contest.
In honor of the annual Seats For Soldiers Night, the
Orlando Magic
are also extending a discounted ticket offer to all military/government members, family members and retired military personnel. Seats for Soldiers Night will include taped messages to soldiers throughout the game, a kids' tunnel on the court, a pre-game presentation and other activities for military personnel and their families.
"We are very proud to partner with Harris Corporation to honor the heroes who are fighting for our freedom," said Orlando Magic Vice President of Community Relations and Government Affairs Linda Landman-Gonzalez. "By asking fans to offer their tickets for the night, we can all feel like we contributed to giving the families of these heroes a night to enjoy time together."
"Harris is proud to team with the Orlando Magic to honor our very deserving military men and women," said Howard L. Lance, chairman, president and CEO of Harris Corporation. "This night is a special tribute and thank you to the men and women who provide the freedoms and security we enjoy everyday as citizens of this great country. Their courage, devotion to duty, and professionalism are an inspiration to all Americans."
