The Orlando Magic were defeated soundly by the Golden State Warriors, 104-95 in front of a crowd of 17,248 at the Amway Arena. Aside from the first period, there wasn’t much to like if you are a Magic fan. We are now going to try and shed a silver lining on an otherwise cloudy evening of basketball.

What Went Right

1. Energetic start- The Magic came out with their guns blazing as they hit from the inside and outside, and shot nearly 70% in a 36 point first period.

2. Dwight Howard statistically- Howard tallied yet another double-double as he scored 26 points, grabbed 12 rebounds, and blocked 5 shots.

3. Defense from the field- Although it didn’t look this way from watching the game, the Magic held the Warriors to just over 40% shooting from the field.

Orlando was outplayed by a better team Saturday night. The Warriors, who came in to the game as the worst defense in the NBA, allowing 107.8 ppg., tightened up the screws on D and held the Magic to just 95 points, nearly 10 beneath their season average.
